Back & Neck Pain
Without significant trauma, back and neck pain are usually caused by a combination of stressors placed on the body over a period of time. Such stressors include physical, chemical and even emotional.
Symptoms such as spasms, aches and pains often come on at the end of normal function as your body’s way to let you know that a change in needed.
As the moving bones of the spine protect the communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots, it is important to have your spine functioning at its best.
Headaches
There are many factors that can cause headaches. These include; musculoskeletal, jaw problems, sinusitis and eye strain.
Our practitioners accurately assess to identify the cause, diagnose and treat headaches and migraines.
Chiropractic is extremely safe and is becoming a recognised health choice for headaches.
In a study conducted at Macquarie University, 71% of migraine sufferers who were surveyed, resulted in a decrease in the severity, duration, frequency and the amount of medication used, after receiving specific chiropractic adjustments to the spine.
Chiropractic care can be effective as is corrects impairments that often cause headaches. Chiropractors use gentle spinal adjustments to correct these impairments and also provide lifestyle advice on helping to prevent their occurrence.
Knee Pain
Knee pain is a common presentation. There are many structures within the knee joint that can lead to pain, such as ligaments, tendons and the meniscus. By reducing uneven strain on the knee joint, the structures of and surrounding the knee can heal and function at it’s best.
Knee pain is often caused by sporting injuries, whether it be from a knock, fall or incorrect landing. Uneven muscular strength of the muscles supporting the knee can affect the movement of the knee joint and tracking of the knee cap (Patella). This will then cause wearing and pain in the joint. Another common reason is misalignment of the foot and ankle, that will then cause a twist through the knee joint.
Here at Body Care Health & Chiropractic, we work on correcting the joints of the knee, pelvis, hip and foot, to help retrain the body and stretches and exercises to strengthen the associated muscles.
We are also trained in assessing and fitting for orthotics.
Postural Problems
Bad posture is the result of a range of factors over time. The most common is sitting for too long, whether it be at the office or perhaps in the car. This sedentary position can cause weakening of supporting core muscles and tightening of larger outer muscles. Poor postural habits include the head sitting too far forward on the spine, rounded shoulders, increase in spinal curvatures, pelvic tilt and/or flat feet. Bad posture normally links to aching joints and muscles due to uneven strain and wearing on structures of the body.
Poor postural habits can be immediately noticed during a Chiropractic assessment. At Body Care Health & Chiropractic, we use adjustments to help retrain the brain on how the spine is suppose to be positioned. We will also work on the muscles and guide you with stretches and strengthening exercises.
