Anterior Hip Pain
ANTERIOR HIP PAIN
Hip pain is a common complaint we treat at Body Care Health & Chiropractic. It can affect people of all ages and fitness levels. The pain can very from mild to severe and be described as aching, sharp or even burning. Hip pain can be felt around all areas of the hip, however anterior is the most common.
CAUSES
Anterior hip pain if often caused by arthritis, inflammation, strains or even a fracture.
Bursitis is an irritation or inflammation of the bursa in the joint. A bursa is a small, fluid-filled sac that serves as a cushion between joints, muscles and tendons. Bursitis is most common among athletes such as runners and soccer players.
Osteoarthritis of the hip occurs when the cartilage in and around the hip joint slowly wears down over time. This is common result of aging but can also be caused by a previous hip injury. Without an adequate amount of cartilage, the bones can rub against each other which causes the pain experienced. This type of pain typically gets worse with activity and improves with rest.
Inflammation is another common cause of anterior hip pain. This is inflammation of a strained tendon or muscle, tendinitis or could be caused by rheumatoid arthritis. The pain felt by rheumatoid arthritis tends to be dull and achy, and gets better with activity and worse with too much rest.
As mentioned above, anterior hip pain is not only experienced by older people, young and active people can suffer from it too. It is therefore important to see a Chiropractor to get on top of it, to help ease the pain quickly but to also prevent it from worsening.
